Joint press release AviAlliance and aireg

With AviAlliance GmbH, the aviation initiative aireg (Aviation Initiative for Renewable Energy in Germany) has gained one of the world's leading industrial airport investors and managers as a member.

AviAlliance develops airports into efficient, service-oriented and customer-friendly companies. Its portfolio includes shares in the airports in Athens, Budapest, Düsseldorf, Hamburg and San Juan (Puerto Rico).

For AviAlliance, the sustainability of aviation is a central concern. The company supports its portfolio airports in the planning, selection and use of environmentally friendly technologies. The five airports are certified by the Airport Carbon Accreditation Program, an independent certification system for airports introduced by the industry association ACI (Airports Council International). The program records the measures taken to improve the carbon footprint of airports.

"As a private airport investor, together with our airports we are actively taking responsibility for one of the most important issues of our time: climate protection," explains Gerhard Schroeder, Managing Director of AviAlliance. "In order to achieve the goal of climate-neutral aviation, the entire industry must become active and bundle its efforts. This makes an association like aireg extremely important, and we are very much looking forward to our cooperation."

Uwe Gaudig, member of the aireg Executive Board and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board, says about joining: "With a project as important as the defossilization of aviation, it is necessary to have all the players involved on board. For the transition to SAF to succeed, it is important that the airports are also ready for the SAF supply. Our collaboration with AviAlliance will drive this project forward."
