Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico (IATA code: SJU), is the biggest and busiest airport in the Caribbean. It is the island’s main point of entry and the base airport for many airlines. In 2024, the airport handled 13.2 million passengers, corresponding to around 90 percent of the total Puerto Rican passenger volume.

At the CAPA Global Aviation Awards for Excellence 2024, San Juan Airport was named winner in the category "Medium Airport of the Year". The CAPA Awards are among the most prestigious in the aviation industry. In addition, the airport received the "Airports Going Green 2024 Award" from the American Association of Airport Executives and the Chicago Department of Aviation. This award recognizes the many initiatives undertaken to make airport operations more environmentally friendly.

San Juan Airport, which celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2025, is the first and so far the only large airport in the USA to be successfully privatized under the FAA Airport Privatization Pilot Program.

Since May 2017, AviAlliance has held a 40-percent stake in the operating company Aerostar Airport Holdings, LLC. The remaining 60 percent is held by Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR), Mexico. AviAlliance and ASUR, in their role as industrial investors, actively support the airport’s development.
